Arnold Lee Hooks

   Arnold Lee Hooks, 71, of Westville, passed away on Friday, June 21, 2019 at Carle Hosptial in Urbana.  Visitation will be from 10:00am to 1:30pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville.  Service will follow at 1:30pm on Tuesday, June 25, 2019 at the Funeral Home. Following services, he will be laid to rest beside his wife Glenna in Sunset Memorial Park.

   Arnold was born in Tennessee on October 13, 1947 to Lee and Lizzie (Hicks) Hooks.  He was a truck driver for over forty years, most of the time as an owner/operator. He enjoyed being outdoors, especially fishing, and he loved animals and wildlife. Arnold loved slow dancing, wood carving, and especially going to flea markets. He was the definition of a family man, never passing up a chance to spoil his grandchildren and become a kid again.

   Arnold married Glenna S.  Starwalt on September 20, 1974 in Westville and she passed away in 2015 after 40 years of marriage.  Arnold is survived by his fiancé Donna Walters; his son Kevin (Kaci) Hooks; a daughter Amanda (Damon) Downs; and his grandchildren: Alexis, Skylar, and Wyatt. His great-granddaughter Laelynn, his brother Kenneth (Lana) Hooks, his sisters: Betty Jarnigan, Edna (Terry) Bryant, and Sue Ellis, and numerous nieces and nephews will also greatly miss him.

  He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Glenna, two brothers William Hooks and Robert “Wayne” Hooks; and his brother-in-laws Robert Ellis and Clarence “Slim” Jarnigan.

  Arnold never met a stranger, and when someone needed him, he was always there. He affected everyone he met, and his smile was contagious.
