Ella Elizabeth Samson, 77 of Danville, passed away at 1:25pm on Friday, July 19, 2019 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Per her wishes she was able to give to others through her donation to Gift of Hope after her passing. A memorial visitation will be at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville on Saturday, July 27, 2019 from 4-6pm. She will later be interred with her son at Johnson Cemetery.
Ella was born on October 1, 1941 in Danville to John and Mary (Songer) Brawner. She attended Danville grade schools and Danville High School, and later went to work at the Danville VA as a CNA for nearly twenty years. Ella’s passions in life were cooking and collecting recipes, flowers and gardening, singing in the car, and most of all, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren. She adored “her babies”, and will live on in them, as they each carry on many of her qualities.
Ella married Kenneth Bolton and the two had two daughters: Elizabeth Bolton and Lynn Paris, both surviving. Kenneth passed away in 2001. She later married Rolla Samson in 1986 and he passed in 2016. Also surviving are her granddaughter: Kendra Ross and her husband Dusty, who was very special to her, and her grandson: John Paris, who she affectionately called AJ; and six great-grandchildren: Zane, Aubri, Kenlee, Luna, Lainey, Raevyn. She will also be greatly missed by her daughters from other mothers: Missy, Michelle, LaDonna, Yvonne, Dora, Mic, Penny, Pam, and Erika. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenny, her husband Rolla, her parents, and a son: James Bolton.
