Lowell Cummings Obituary

   Lowell Boyd Cummings, 90, of Danville, left this life on Tuesday, January 8, 2019.  A Memorial Visitation will be from 11:00 – 1:00pm on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville, with memorial service at 1:00pm and burial to follow at Sunset Cemetery.

 

Lowell was born September 17, 1928 in Danville, Illinois the son of Pearl G. Zantow Cummings and Lyal C. Cummings.  He married Marilyn Haworth Cummings on August 31, 1947 at Georgetown Friends Church in Georgetown, Illinois.

 

Survivors include their children Jerry (Vicky) Cummings, Jim (Terri) Cummings, Julie Cummings, seven grandchildren:  Nathan Cummings, Claire (Steven) Cummings-Martin, Zachary, Noah and Eli Bates, two step-grandchildren: Kevin (Memory) Armstrong and Geroud Armstrong, two great-grandchildren Ryan and Owen Webb, and two step great-grandchildren Camille & Isabella Armstrong. Preceded in death by daughter Jody Jean Cummings.

 

Lowell graduated from Danville High School where he was active in orchestra and band.  He was in the senior band all four years of high school, playing in the Moments Musical Productions and also with the Danville Municipal Band.  He attended Butler University.

Most of his working years were spent in the electrical field, many with his father.  He retired from the Industrial Electric Motor business in 1993 and received several sales awards.  In the 1990’s he was active in helping to set up a new electric motor lab at the University of Illinois.  He was an active member for several years at Danville United Church of Christ.  His interests included woodworking, music, the Chicago Cubs and the Fighting Illini.  He also delighted in watching his grandchildren and great grandchildren grow.
