Russell Mascari Jr., 75, of Oakwood, passed away Monday, May 13, 2019 in Danville. Visitation will be from 4:30pm – 7:00pm on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. A Prayer service will be at 4:00pm Thursday before the visitation at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home. Funeral Mass will be at noon on Friday, May 17, 2019 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church, 1303 N. Walnut Street in Danville with Father Bo Schmitt officiating. Burial will follow at Resurrection Cemetery.
Russell was born March 21, 1944 in Danville to Russell and Florence (Smoot) Mascari. He worked at Allith Prouty / Smith & Jones as lathe operator. Then worked at Krupp Gerlach as a welder and grinder, retiring in 2004. Russell was a big Chicago Bears and Chicago Cubs fan. He enjoyed taking care of his yard, fishing, mushrooming, and bullseye shooting. He was a member of the Danville Rifle and Pistol Club for many years, and a member of Saint Paul’s Catholic Church.
Russell married Sherry (Hollibaugh) Rogers on December 22, 1972, she survives. Survivors include son James “Jimmy” (Mascari) Russian; step children Jay (Karen) Rogers of Springfield and Lisa (Matt) Burkart of Grayslake; grandchildren: Michael, Mitchell, Bennett, Tyler and Lindsay; sister JoAnn Keller of Kingman, IN. Russell was preceded by his parents; brothers: Frank Mascari and John Mascari; and sister Ruth Ann Masulis.
