Alford Johnson Obituary

Alford Wayne Johnson, 92 of Danville, left us peacefully on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 at his home. Services will be on Friday, February 17th at 11am at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville with Dave Martin officiating. Visitation will be from 10-11am on Friday at the funeral home. Following services, Alford will be laid to rest in Potomac Cemetery.

Born June 27, 1930 in Eldorado, Illinois, Alford was the youngest of seven children born to Emery and Elnora (Mortz) Johnson. He attended school through the third grade before dropping out to work and help support his mother. Alford was an entrepreneur and owned and operated several businesses throughout the years including the original Your Right Cleaning and Your Right Heating & Air. He later sold both of those businesses.   When he wasn’t working, Alford enjoyed fishing, gardening, and canning. He was a true family man and they were always his biggest concern.

Alford married Minnie Trussel in November of 1946 and the two shared thirty-seven years together before her passing in 1983. Five children were born into his marriage: Emery, Alford Jr, Cindy, Penny and Elnora. He later married Beverly Brannin in 1984 and after only eight years, she passed as well. He married Sadie Brewer in 1997 and she went to her Heavenly Home in 1999 after only two short years. June Johnson later spent thirteen years caring for Alford until her passing in 2012. After June’s passing, Gloria “Joanne” Vance began caring for him and was a wonderful companion up until his death.

Alford leaves behind his four children: Cindy (Richard) Jones, Penny (Richie) Evans, Elnora (Jack) O’Banion, and Emery (Faye) Johnson; thirteen grandchildren; multiple great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren. He also had a great-great-great grandchild on the way. His sister Vickie Vansant, his companion Joanne Vance, numerous nieces and nephews, and many step children, and step-grandchildren survive him as well. He was preceded in death by his parents, three wives, a longtime companion June, five brothers, and a son Alford Johnson Jr.
