Amy Jeanette Thompson, 64 of Hoopeston, passed peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2026 at the Danville VA Medical Center, Palliative Care Unit, after a long and valiant health battle.
Amy was born on January 25, 1962 in Ocean Port, New Jersey to John Edward and Helen Marie (Quill) Roe. She proudly served in the US Navy from March of 1979 to July of 1981. Upon returning from the service, Amy married Richard Thompson and the two have been by one another's sides everyday since.
Kruger Funeral Home and Crematory has been asked to assist the family with Amy's final care. At this time the family is still working through the loss of Amy and trying to make final arrangements. There are financial constraints so the family has asked that donations be opened up via the funeral home website, or they can also be made to the funeral home in person, so that they can honor Amy's wishes. A visitation has been arranged for Monday, January 26th from 9:30-10:30am at the VA Chapel, 1900 E. Main Street in Danville. Services will follow at 10:30am with a VA Chaplain officiating. Military Honors by American Legion Post 210 and burial in the National Cemetery will take place at 11am.
