Arlen “Scott” Davis, 86 of Danville, joined his loved ones in heaven on Wednesday, November 20, 2024 at St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago, Indiana with family by his side.
Scott was born to Walter and Dorthea (Miller) Davis on October 6, 1938, in Danville, Illinois. Scott married Debra (Kruger) Davis on August 21st, 1973, in Danville. She proceeded him in death on December 26, 2010.
Scott leaves behind one son: Bennett “Scott” Davis (Jeri) of Danville, IL, four daughters: Jodi Peters of Charleston, SC, Adrienne Longoria (Rico) of Lake Worth, FL, Melissa Dedman (Chris) of Memphis, TN, Shannon Davis (Corey) of East Chicago, IN, 10 grandchildren: Evan Davis (Felicia), Lindsay Davis (John), Jasmine Peters, Jade Peters, Aaron Lintz (Patty), Cameron Seals, Grady Dedman, Ella Dedman, Trae Dandridge, Mya Bailey, Kailani Adams, and Karin Adams, along with 8 great grandchildren: Ruth Davis, Bree Davis, Brennan Davis, Brylin Davis, Sebi Mercardo, Alysa Lintz, Mia Lintz, Amelia Lintz, and many nieces and nephews.
Scott was proceeded in death by his father, Walter; mother, Dorthea; and his step-father, Fred Fitzsimmons; two brothers, Ronald Davis and Jerry Davis; two sisters, Shirley Davis-Johnson and Marcia Bolser; one step-brother, Bob Fitzsimmons; and two step-sisters, Connie Turpin and Carol Latoz.
Scott attended Danville High School, graduating in 1956. He served as a Merchant Marine and worked as a Industrial Machinery Mechanic at TeePak until he retired. Scott was a huge Fighting Illini and Danville Vikings fan. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting, woodworking, and cooking. Scott could typically be found tinkering in his garage, hanging out with friends for coffee, or relaxing in his recliner watching sports with a mason jar of sweet tea. Most of all it was the time spent with his friends and family that Scott treasured the most.
A celebration of Scott’s life will be held on Tuesday, November 26th from 10:00 am-11:30 am at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. A brief service will follow at 11:30 am with Pastor Phil Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in Catlin.
