Arthur William Haskins, known as Art to his friends and Bill to his family, passed away on Friday, July 28, 2023 at OSF Hospital in Peoria. He was 79 years old. Visitation will be from 10-1pm on Thursday, August 3rd at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Services will follow at 1pm with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Art was born February 8, 1944 in Danville to Francis and Daisy (Harrier) Haskins. He attended Danville schools, graduating from Danville High School in 1963. Art started his career at Berkley Davis in the Shipping and Receiving Department and later as a machinist. He moved to Bell Helmet and worked in maintenance until they downsized. Art retired from the tooling maintenance department at Master Guard in 2006. He was a longtime member of Illini Skeet & Trap, and enjoyed shooting in his spare time, as well as fishing. Art and Rita enjoyed listening to local music in the area (Dixie Flyers and Captain 3) on Tuesdays and Fridays, and enjoyed eating breakfast with their friends on Friday mornings. He also had an amateur radio that he enjoyed until it wouldn’t work anymore!
Bill married Rita Young on February 25, 1967 at Union Corner Church and the two have shared life’s ups and downs the fifty-six years since. He leaves behind his wife Rita; his two sons: Stacey and Mark (Amberly) Haskins and two step-grandchildren: Haleigh and Konnor. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, and a sister Carolyn Young.
