Arthur “Cid” Lee Crume Jr, 75 of Fairmount, went to join his #1 in Heaven on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Per his wishes, he will be cremated and only private family services will be held.
Cid was born in Chicago on April 24, 1948 to Arthur Crume Sr. and Doris Louise Shaw. He was raised by his Great Grandmother Hattie Mae Chapman who preceded him in death, and went to school in Chicago, moving to the Danville area twenty-six years ago. Cid was a Medical Lab Technician for many years and enjoyed working with people. When he wasn’t working, he could be found taking photographs, reading medical books, writing poetry, playing his guitar, and listening to music- his favorite band being The Eagles.
Cid met the love of his life, his high school sweetheart, Ernestine ‘Una” Clay, and the two were married before his eighteenth birthday in 1965. The two shared over fifty-three years together before her passing in September of 2018 and Cid has never been the same since. Cid and Una had a total of six children. Surviving are their children: Floyd (Katherine) Clay, Michelle (Gregory) Lee, Venice Crume, and Tasha (Charles) Gant; eighteen grandchildren; and several great grandchildren with two more on the way. He was preceded in death by his #1 and love of his life Ernestine “Una” and two children: Curtis Crume and George Crume. He was also preceded in death by his best canine friend Brutus.
The family wants to send a special thank you to Rodney and his wife, as well as Marci Lynn, who looked after Cid and Una these past several years and made sure they were well cared for when their children couldn’t be there. Messages and memories may be left on our website at www.KrugerCoanPape.com, or on the Kruger Funeral Home Facebook page.
