Barbara L (Powers) Kuchenbrod

   Barbara spent most of her adult life living in Armstrong where she raised five children, Ralph (Ellen) Kuchenbrod, Barbara (Tom) Rust, Gary (Sandra) Kuchenbrod, Jerry (Kim) Kuchenbrod, and Barry (Vonda) Kuchenbrod. She is survived by all of her children, eight grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren.

   Barbara had a green thumb and loved working in her yard growing plants and flowers making sure everything looked just right. Barbara was a dedicated caregiver retiring from the Veterans Administration Hospital in Danville and Country Health nursing home in Gifford, Illinois. Barbara was very creative and made many of her own lawn ornaments. She also handcrafted many gifts in her garage for loved ones. She loved flamingos and her home was decorated throughout with flamingo-themed art. She loved going to garage sales and thrift stores searching for bargains. Barbara was phenomenal at jigsaw puzzles and almost always had one in progress on her pool table in the basement. Growing up her children fondly recall the costumes she made for school plays and how the neighbor kids loved her cookies. 

    Barbara was very proud to have been a veteran having served in the United States Air Force. There will be a military graveside service, with her ashes being interred at Danville National Cemetery on Friday, February 10th at 10am.
