Bernard Buck, 96 of Danville, passed away on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30pm on Wednesday, January 17th at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Graveside Services with Military Honors by American Legion Post 210 will begin promptly at 2pm at Danville National Cemetery.
Bernie was born July 9, 1927 in Penfield, Illinois to Joseph and Loretta (Gordon) Buck. He attended Penfield Grade School and later Danville High School. Bernie enlisted in the US Army in December of 1953 and served until 1955. He worked for thirty-five years at GM as a laborer. Bernie enjoyed spending time with his family and often babysat his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He liked watching sports and was a Cubs fan.
Bernie married Edna Buck on May 31, 1958 in Danville and the two shared thirty-eight years together before her passing in 1996. Bernie leaves behind his children: Carolyn Rodman and Marilyn (John) Kelly; grandchildren: Steve Schulz, Michael Schulz, Ronnie Schulz, Darren Rodman, Daniel Kelly, Paul Kelly, and David Warren; great grandchildren: Anthony Warren, Ashley Warren, Jennifer Warren, Cassie Warren, and Tiffany Warren; and numerous great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Edna, a daughter Patty Pender, a brother, and two sisters.
