Bernice C. Lane, 99 of Danville, died on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at Pleasant Meadows in Chrisman. Visitation will be on Monday, August 19, 2024 from 10-11am at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Services will follow at 11am with Pastor Yonkers officiating. She will be laid to rest in Sunset Memorial Park.
Bernice was born June 27, 1925 and raised in Germantown to Fred and Martha (Magnus) Rassett. She attended Immanuel Lutheran and Danville High School, graduating in 1943. Bernice worked at Time-o-Matic for nearly twenty years, and later worked as a nursing assistant at the Danville VA until she was injured. Bernice enjoyed taking care of others, crocheting baby blankets for anyone expecting, and doing her crossword puzzles. She also enjoyed a cold Michelob Ultra and dancing on occasion. Bernice was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church.
Bernice leaves behind her daughter: Michelle Harvey Moore and her husband Terry; grandsons: Darren Kilbury, Jason Dawson, and Robert Moore; granddaughter: Amber Padgett; great granddaughters: Emma Dawson and Rylie Cheesman; nieces: Jodi Pierce Stevens and Cindy Bolser Webb; and many cousins and in-laws. She was the last of her siblings to pass. Bernice was preceded by her parents, her husbands Donald Harvey and Russell Lane, her daughter Judy Kilbury, and her siblings: Ed Rassett, Mildred Drews, and Evelyn Ponder.
