Betty Jean Pickett, 91, of Danville, passed peacefully on Thursday, January 30, 2025. Services will be on Tuesday, February 4th at 1pm at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street with Pastor Dave Anderson officiating. A visitation will be from 11-1pm on Tuesday at the funeral home. Following services, Betty will be laid to rest at Spring Hill Cemetery.
Betty was born on April 30, 1933 in Danville to Samuel and Stella (McMann) Collom. She attended Danville Schools through the 8th grade. Betty worked at several places over the years and wore many hats. Kresge’s Dime Store, IGA, and Grab It Here just to name a few. She’s spent the last ten years as secretary for her husband’s business Bob’s Washer Repair.
Betty was a member of Northside Church of The Nazarene from her childhood until it closed several years ago. She then joined Westside Nazarene where she still attends to this day. Betty loved her Bible, enjoyed singing, and was a Sunday School Teacher for nearly twenty-five years, and the kids adored her. She loved taking care of her plants and gardening; was passionate about flowers (especially roses), and loved sitting her swing, looking out over the yard. Betty was an amazing baker and her iced cookies and cakes were a family favorite. Most importantly however, Betty was the best wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Betty and the love of her life, Bob, met in the Lincoln Theatre when they were kids. They threw rocks at each other and she wrote him love letters. The two married on November 19, 1949 and have shared over seventy-five years together.
Betty leaves behind her loving husband Robert “Bob” Pickett; her four children: Bob Junior (Robin) Pickett, Dan (Norm) Pickett, Michael (Gloria) Pickett, Karen (Mack) Bias; twelve grandchildren; thirty-three great-grandchildren; and more great-great grandchildren than we can count. She was preceded by her parents, a son: Jack Pickett; four brothers: Sam, Bill, Norman, and Bob; two sisters: Joyce and Pat; one great- grandchild, and two great-grandchildren.
