Bonnie Hettmansberger Obituary

Bonnie Marie Lewis Hettmansberger, born October 4, 1945, in Sacramento, California, passed away at home in Bismarck, IL on September 13, 2025, after a seven-year battle with cancer. Bonnie was the beloved daughter of William Demp Lewis and Bernice Eva (Rexine) Lewis, and the cherished sister of Dean Lewis.

Bonnie’s life was enriched by her family. She was a devoted mother to Denise Truskosky, John Truskosky, Kate Kennedy, Becky (Stan) Jackowski, Steve (Amy) Hettmansberger, Angie (Jay) Waldrop, and Mike (Katie) Hettmansberger. She was a proud grandmother, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories for generations to come.

Bonnie was united in marriage to John Wayne Truskosky, Curtis Dale Kennedy, and James Darrell Hettmansberger over the course of her life. Her family and friends will remember her for her generosity and fun-loving spirit.

Bonnie was a graduate of Tilton Grade School and Danville High School. She went on to have a diverse and fulfilling career, serving as a bookkeeper at Second National Bank, a clerk at Vermilion County Courthouse, a laboratory secretary and receptionist at St. Elizabeth Hospital, and an office administrator at both Dr. McAskill’s and Dr. Page’s Chiropractic Clinics. She also enjoyed her roles as a sales associate at Creative Corner and Creative Arts and Crafts, and she fulfilled a lifelong dream as a flight attendant with American Airlines.

Outside of her professional life, Bonnie had a passion for antiquing, gardening, painting, jewelry making, seashell and rock collecting, and exploring the internet. She loved being outdoors, especially barefoot.  Her creativity and curiosity brought joy to those around her and inspired many to pursue their own interests with enthusiasm.

Bonnie’s faith was important and was a member of Bismarck First Church of Christ.  Some of her favorite scriptures included John 3:16, Luke 10:25-37, and Psalm 23. Her loved ones will gather to celebrate her life on Monday, September 22, 2025 at Bismarck First Church of Christ, 100 Maiden Lane, Bismarck, Illinois 61832. A visitation in remembrance of a remarkable woman who touched so many lives will be held from 10-Noon at the church, and funeral services will follow at 12pm. Bonnie will be dearly missed by all who knew her and will remain forever in our hearts.
