Brent K. Whitlock, 74 of Danville, went Home to join his loved ones in Heaven on September 6 2024 at The Richard L. Roudebush Medical Center in Indianapolis. Visitation for Brent will be from 10-Noon on Monday, September 16, 2024 at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Services will follow at 12pm with Gary Farris officiating. Burial will be at 1pm at Danville National Cemetery with full military honors by The American Legion Post 210.
Brent was born in Danville on September 2, 1950 to Hudson and Ruth (Humbles) Whitlock. He attended Westville High School, and later earned his GED in the Army. Brent served his country proudly, enlisting in 1970 and serving during the Vietnam War. Upon his return from the service, he worked at numerous places throughout the years (Hyster, Greyhound Bus Company, and private garages) as a mechanic. His final job was with Indiana Expediting until his health forced him to quit in 2012. When he wasn’t working, Brent enjoyed working on cars, watching the Sunday races, and spending time with his grandchildren.
Brent married Gail Leah Strawser in 1981, and the two have shared forty-three years of marriage together. He leaves behind his loving wife Gail; five children: Heather (Joey) White, April Shutes, Justin Lary, Brent Kirk Whitlock II, Brittany (Scott) Wilder; thirteen grandchildren: Devon (Hunter) Broadway, Kile (Kaylee) Broadway, Kaleb Broadway, Lexi (James) Harper, Paige (Matt) Cope, Annalicia Shutes, Brady (Emily) Shutes, Cierra Shutes, Jayden Wilder, Lexi Wilder, Ethan Lary, Lucas Lary, Evan Whitlock; and seven great-grandchildren: Levi, Clover, Ellie, Obsidiana, Melonie, Brentley, and Oliver. His three brothers Bill Whitlock, Blake Whitlock, and Bruce (Debbie) Whitlock will also greatly miss him. Brent was preceded in death by his parents, a granddaughter Kelsey Broadway, and a sister Karen Loden.
