Danny Neubig Sr Obituary

On June 28 2022, Danny Mack Neubig SR passed peacefully at his home and was welcomed into Heaven. Danny was born May 22nd 1954 to Virginia Rosalie Hammack. He was one of 6 children.

Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Jill Darlene Neubig. The two created and shared a beautiful life together before she passed on in 2010.  There was nothing that Danny and Jill loved more aside from each other, than caring for children. Together they raised 3 daughters, Jacqueline (Kelly) Roth, Staci Hargrove, Carla (Darren) Wells, and his only son, Mack (Amanda) Neubig. They raised several foster children- specifically a few very, very special boys. There were very few children in the neighborhood that didn’t know the two as Grandma and Grandpa, or Mom and Dad.

Danny is survived by 3 of his siblings, Chuck, Ella and Sarah. He leaves behind his 10 grandchildren, Robbie (Ashley) Hargrove, Cody Hargrove, Kayla (Joshua) Messer, Carol (Drew) Pratt, Danny (Abby) Neubig, Joshua and Emily Neubig, Aiden, Sadie, and Taryn Roth, as well as his 8 great grandchildren. He has an abundance of close friends, nieces and nephews, all of which he loved very much.

Danny loved collectibles and going to rummage sales looking for anything he thought might hold value in years to come. He loved fishing, specifically night fishing. He participated in many demo derbies, being known for his psychedelic #67 & later teaching his son about them who still shares the love of derbies to this day. He was a die hard Cincinnati Reds fan. He was an avid dog lover going on to train dogs in the military and he worked very hard to instill that education and knowledge into many of his close family members. He was known as dad/pop/old man by many close friends. Danny was a teacher, one of his favorite things that he loved to reminisce about. He would tell anybody that would listen how precious a dime was and how important it was to save it for a rainy day.  There was no point in challenging a word that Danny said, what he said was the first and final straw. Danny had a love for old western shows and he loved to tinker with things; he got a thrill of taking things apart just to put them back together; An important trait and pastime that he passed down to a couple of his grandsons. He made each of his grandchildren feel like they were his favorite, but he had a very special bond with all of his grandgirls.

Danny didn’t know a stranger. You probably hear that phrase often, but with Danny there isn’t a statement more true. He was a friend to many and a helping hand any chance he could get.

He was preceded in death by his beloved brother David, his loving sister Jenny, and his mother Virginia.

Danny was loved by everyone. Though his loss was sudden and took everybody by surprise, we are all at peace knowing that he is back in the arms of the love of his life and with our Lord. Danny did not wish to have traditional services and the family will be honoring his wishes privately. We ask that anybody wishing to make donations in his name please do so at the Vermilion County Animal Shelter or to Guiding Eyes For The Blind, in honor of Danny and his love for animals.
