David Arthur Doggett, 95, of Danville, passed away Saturday, January 25, 2020. Visitation will be Thursday, January 30, 2020 from 10:30 – 11:30am at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Service will follow at 11:30am on Thursday at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home, with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Entombment will follow at Springhill Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 210
David was born in Danville on November 22, 1924 to Mervin and Margaret (Gaydos) Doggett. After graduating from Oakwood High School, he severed in the U.S. Army, and was awarded a silver star in WWII. When he got back, he worked at the Palace Cigar Store in Downtown Danville, and later purchased the 610 Tap in Danville. He was a 69 year member of the American legion Post 210.
David met Gwladys Jones while serving, and was married for over 65 years before her passing in 2011. They had 1 son, Richard Mervin Doggett, who passed in 2013. Survivors include 1 brother, Dean (Jennie) Miller of South Carolina; 2 grandchildren: Samantha Offir of Florida and Cinda Doggett of Washington. He also leaves behind Heidi Tucker, whom he stayed with and who has given him amazing care and companionship for the past 6 years.
