Delia Darlene Pankow, 79 of Fairmount, was reunited with her beloved Jerry in Heaven on Saturday, October 1, 2022. She passed with her loving family by her side. Visitation will be from 12-2pm on Tuesday, October 4th at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Services will follow at 2pm with Pastor Patti Wise officiating, and burial will take place at Oak Hill Cemetery off of Shangri-la Road.
Delia was born to John and Hazel (Stine) Estock in Danville on October 20, 1942. Her family moved around a lot when she was young so she made friends at several schools throughout the years including Potomac, Danville, and Oakwood. It was in one of those small towns that Delia met a young Jerry Pankow in the neighborhood, and the two were married shortly before her seventeenth birthday on September 5, 1959. Delia and Jerry settled in Danville and quickly began their family with the birth of their daughter Sheryl in 1960, and later Lori in 1974. Delia loved making their house a home and raising their children. She was a lifetime collector of recipes and cookbooks and was a fantastic baker. Part of her daily conversations with her daughters was always ‘What are you having for supper? Well how do you make that?” Delia also loved deeply, and each grandchild felt her full support at every cheerleading event, basketball game, and spelling bee. Her and Jerry also enjoyed playing radio games to pass the time on family road trips. Since becoming homebound the past few years, Facebook had become Delia’s window to the world, part of her daily routine that allowed her to live through others.
On January 5, 2022, Delia lost the love of her life Jerry after sixty-two wonderful years together. She leaves behind her two daughters: Sheryl Baumeister and Lori (Shane) Kirby; five grandchildren: Madison, MacKenzie and Brittney Kirby, Amie Baumeister, and Andy (Jayde) Baumeister; and two great grandchildren: Declan and Dryce. Delia will also be greatly missed by her brother: Jerry “Jed” Estock, her brother-in-law: Frederick ‘Rick” (Judi) Pankow; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father John Estock, her mother and step-dad: Hazel and Louis McCalip, a brother: Gene Estock, and two sisters: Marilyn Johnson and Nancy Pollock.
