Donald Lientz Sr Obituary

Donald Harrison Lientz Sr, 73 of Danville, passed away on January 27, 2022 at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville. He is flying with the angels now. Per his wishes he has chosen to be cremated. A Celebration of Life is planned for Saturday, June 11th at 3pm at Chrisman Church of the Nazarene, 313 N. Pennyslvania Street in Chrisman with Pastor Cory Swinderman officiating.

Donald was born on September 18, 1948 in Paris, Illinois to William Lientz and Juanita (Byrd) Lientz. He was raised in a military family and although they moved around a lot, he grew up mainly in Chrisman, Illinois. One of his fondest memories was when they lived in Bitburg, Germany where he attended and finished school.

Mr. Lientz had five children from his first marriage, April Furry of Terre Huate, IN, Sean Lientz of Paris, Donnie Lientz Jr. of Chrisman, Angela Parsons of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Brooke VanDegrift of Dodge City, Kansas. And someone he considered a daughter Melissa Raabe, all survive. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren. He is survived by his sisters Patricia Miles, Terry Long, and Yvonne Smith, also all of Paris. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Donna Allison, and his second wife Lynn Ferrel.

He was employed at Enterprise and before that worked for Keys manufacturing. Mr. Lientz loved talking to people. He never met a stranger. He loved to travel and drive places. He loved talking to people about his time in Germany and how he wanted to go back and visit.

Donald was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Bears. He enjoyed playing cards and talking with friends. He loved bowling and used to be part of a league. Wrestling was one of his favorite things to watch.
