Fern Lorraine Lockhart, 70 of Danville, left for her Heavenly Home above on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at her home. Graveside services will be at Woodlawn Cemetery in Indianola on Monday, August 22nd at 2pm with Randy Taylor officiating where she will be laid to rest beside her parents. Fern was born to Raymond and Beulah (Taylor) Appelman on March 13, 1952 in Danville. She graduated from Catlin High School and DACC, earning her Associate’s Degree. She was just a few credit shy of earning her Bachelors. Fern enjoyed working with children and was a daycare provider and Teacher’s Aide for her entire career. She retired in 2014.
Fern enjoyed a variety of hobbies-mainly crafts such as scrapbooking and collecting stamps, but she was also an avid reader who enjoyed Amish books. She belonged to several different ladies groups such as TOPS and Red Hats, and was a friend to everyone. She was a volunteer at the Salvation Army twice a week for the past several years.
Fern married Freddie Lockhart Jr. on December 6, 1975 and the two shared thirty-nine years together before his passing in June of 2014. She leaves behind a son Michael Lockhart; grandchildren: Cierra Lockhart (Joseph Hutchin); a brother Chuck (Paula) Appelman; and a handful of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers.
