Florence Ann Pankey, 94, passed peacefully at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana on Friday, June 28, 2024. A committal service will be held at 11am on Wednesday, July 3, 2024 at the Spring Hill Mausoleum Chapel, where she will be laid to rest in a niche beside her husband Lowell.
Florence was born December 27, 1929 in Danville to W.R. and Anna (Pacinkiewicz) Pierce. She attended Garfield Grade School and Danville High School, graduating in 1946. Florence married Lowell Dean Pankey on February 17, 1952 and they lived in Sidell for fifty years. The two shared fifty- eight years together before his passing on December 25, 2010.
She is survived by her daughter: Marcia Beard of Portland, OR; two grandsons: Lucas Darr of Fairmount, IL and Eamon Beard of Portland, OR; a granddaughter: Molly Beard of Portland, OR; a great-grandson Landon Darr of Fairmount, IL; and a son-in-law: James Darr of Fairmount, IL. Florence was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband Lowell, and a daughter Melanie Ann Darr.
