George Theesfeld Obituary

George Julius Theesfeld, age 82, of Danville, IL, passed away at home surrounded by family on Earth Day, April 22, 2026 from natural causes.

George was born at home on the farm in Fonda, IA on October 15, 1943. He was raised in a family of seven children. He grew up on the farm, attended a one room schoolhouse near Fonda for grade school, and graduated from Pomeroy High School in 1961. George completed a computer programming certificate at the Automation Institute and was a self taught business person and engineer. George married Mary LaVonne Moeller 59 years ago in 1967 and later welcomed the twins, Crystal and Chandra. George loved horses and animals, playing guitar, singing, and painting, as well as flying airplanes and riding motorcycles - taking the family on several adventures. Not content with solutions he purchased (for any problem), George was constantly engineering the world around him, inventing gadgets and jigs to make something work better - or create a new solution entirely.

After a career in corporate computer programming, George and Mary moved to Knoke, IA to raise the girls and built G&M Interiors, a home furnishing store in Pomeroy, IA (1974-1986). In 1986, they moved to Hartsville, PA where George continued the upholstery business and took up ostrich farming. In 2002 they moved to Illinois and lived a peaceful life in the countryside.

George is preceded in death by his parents George J Theesfeld and Martha C (Gottschalk), brother Ken (IA), sisters Delores (OH), and Joyce (KY). George is survived by his sisters Belva (CA) and Sharon (AR) and brother Bruce (IA) along with a beloved multitude of nieces and nephews; his daughter Crystal Theesfeld (NY), son-in-law Dwayne Bershaw, grandchildren Wilson and Joseph George Theesfeld; and daughter Dr. Chandra Theesfeld (NJ), son-in-law CAPT Brian Schorn, Retired USN, and granddaughters Ayla and Lily.

A celebration of George’s life will be held on May 16, 2026 at 11am in Danville, IL at Kruger Funeral Home, Danville, IL. George will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Union Cemetary in Pomeroy, IA at a future date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to your favorite charity.
