Gina Marie (Miller) Young

Gina (Miller) Young went to be with the Lord at the age of 65 on September 1, 2024, at 4:30 a.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign, IL. She was surrounded by those who loved and cared for her in her final moments. 

Visitation will be held on Friday, September 6, 2024, from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 1632 Georgetown Rd, Tilton, IL. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, with Pastor Dan Kitinoja officiating. Gina will be laid to rest in Springhill Cemetery Mausoleum in Danville, IL. at a later date.

Gina was born on April 30, 1959, in Danville, IL, to Ernest and Gladys (Eldridge) Miller, who preceded her in death. Gina graduated from Danville High School in 1977 and took some courses at DACC. She has served for the past 17 years as a Bus Monitor for First Student of Danville, IL, and has greatly cared for each child placed on her bus. 

Gina was previously married to James Alvin Melton on April 6, 1985, and they had four children together: Gennifer, James, John, and Jamie. On August 3, 2008, Gina married Stephen Allen Young, and they shared 16 wonderful years together. Gina’s step-children are Nicholas and Lacy. 

Gina loved, more than anything, traveling with her husband, Stephen, to visit her children and grandchildren. They would always stop for ice cream and pass the time counting jeeps along the way. Family was always her biggest priority. Gina loved her family deeply and would never leave any conversation without saying, “Love you.” Though she is no longer here, those two words will forever ring in our ears as a reminder that she loved us. We are thankful to know that even though our hearts ache that she is no longer here with us, we will see her again in heaven. She truly is “Forever Young”. 

Gina is survived by her husband, Stephen Young, brother Greg (Becky) Miller, and her children: Gennifer (Jimmy) High, James (Mercedes) Melton, John Melton, Jamie (Kenda’l) Melton, Nicholas (Lisa) Young, and Lacy (Jim) Hicks. She leaves behind 16 grandchildren: Natalee, Paityn, Liam, Chloe, Gabrielle, Jude, George, Harrison, David, Lucy, Kyla, Kameron, Max, Maddox, Lynley, and Raygan, as well as her two nephews Drew (Amanda) Miller, Alan Miller, and their children. She also leaves behind her beloved dog, Sykes Bentlee, her 75-pound lap dog.
