Gladys Miller, 87, of Oakwood, passed away on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Visitation will be from 10:30 – 12:30pm on Tuesday, January 19, 2021 at Danville First Church of the Nazarene, 2212 N. Vermilion Street in Danville. Service will follow at 12:30pm with Pastors Dave Anderson and Ken Pavlick officiating, with burial at Danville National Cemetery. IDPH Guidelines will be strictly followed regarding gathering limitations, masks, and social distancing.
Gladys was born on February 19, 1933 in Oakwood to Ernest and Gladys (Bailey) Eldridge. Gladys was a member of Danville First Church of the Nazarene, she loved the Lord as her personal savior. Gladys worked at Danville Care, and for many years she worked at the former Time-O-Matic in Danville, where she retired from. She loved to crochet and thru the years made countless items. She helped start the Yarnetes at her church who donated many lap blankets to the V.A. for our Veterans.
Gladys married Ernest E. Miller on November 7, 1953 and shared over sixty-two years together until his passing on March 9, 2016. Survivors include children: Gina (Stephen) Young and Greg (Becky) Miller; eight grandchildren: Gennifer (James) High, James (Mercedes) Melton, John Melton, Jamie Melton (Kenda’l), Drew (Amanda) Miller, Alan (Damaris) Miller, Nicholas (Lisa) Young, and Lacy (Jim) Hicks; twenty great-grandchildren; Sister Patrica Martin, and sister-in-law Norma Sapp; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ernest, sisters: Thelma, Shirley, Alice, Virginia, Marjorie, Olive, and Martha; and brother James.
