Helen Elizabeth ‘Betty” Zemont, 84 of Danville, went Home to be with the Lord on Sunday, December 25, 2022 at OSF St. Francis in Peoria. A memorial visitation will be from 10-11am on Friday, December 30th at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Prayer service will immediately follow with Father Steven Loftus officiating. Betty will be entombed with her husband at Resurrection Mausoleum.
Betty was born July 4, 1938 in Danville to Joseph and Mary (Cass) Thomas. She attended St. Patrick Grade School and graduated from Schlarman in 1956. Betty did accounting at Esco, Central States and Steel Grip throughout the years, retiring in 2000 to enjoy her retirement with her husband. Betty was a lifelong member of Holy Family (formerly St. Patrick) Catholic Church. She enjoyed camping and playing any and all card games with her friends. Shopping trips were a weekly thing- either by herself, with her daughter, or with her friends. And she was an avid dog lover, adopting several throughout the years. Most of all, Betty had a zest for life and enjoyed spending every moment she could with those she loved.
Betty married Peter Joseph Zemont on August 31, 1957 and the two shared nearly sixty years together before his passing in July of 2017. She leaves behind two children: Marianne (Scott) Uthe and Paul (Bonnie) Zemont; five grandchildren: Joseph (Rachel) Shepherd, Jolee (Bryan) Phelps, Jana Marron, Julianne (Blake) Wasson, and Jasmine Marron; and seven great-grandchildren: Gavin and Keegan Shepherd, Jeslyn Rhodes, Kennedy Brown, Isaak and Judah Phelps, and Karter Marron. Her best friend Linda Bumbery, who has been by her side for the past twenty years, will greatly miss her as well. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son David Zemont, two grandchildren: Jonathon Marron and Desire Ramsey, and her brother Joe Thomas.
