Herbert Moreman Obituary

Herbert L. Moreman, 81 of Danville, passed away at OSF Sacred Heart on Sunday, December 29, 2024. He will be laid to rest in a private service beside his parents at Oak Ridge Cemetery.

Herbert was born on May 30, 1943 in Danville to Lee Herbert and Julia Evelyn (Ritter) Moreman. He attended Danville schools, graduating from Danville High School in 1961. Herbie worked as an auto mechanic at Barkman Chevrolet in downtown Danville for several years. He also provided homecare through the Danville VA for local Veterans in the second floor of the family home for years, making many friends along the way.

In his younger years Herbie loved taking road trips and traveling all across the USA. He was big into his family history and genealogy, and had a fantastic memory; being able to remember dates and occasions like no one else. Herbie was a car and train enthusiast, and had a passion for dogs, especially Boston Terrier Bulldogs. He gardened, growing tomatoes for the whole neighborhood and his family, and took great pride in his yard. And when you visited, Wheel of Fortune or The Price Is Right were always on the television.

Herbie never married, but was a caregiver at heart. He leaves behind his brother-in-law: Ron Calhoun; and his three nieces: Christina (Jonathan) Prather, April (Ryan) Smith, and Amber (Justin) Wilson. He has numerous cousins, but was especially close to Fred Cunningham, Ed (Karen) Cunningham, and Dave (Dena) Moreman, and his three great nieces and nephews: Chloe, Hannah, and Noah. He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister Sharon Calhoun.
