James "Jim" Wright Obituary

James “Jim” Wright, 79 of Danville, left this world for the racetrack in the sky on Sunday, January 2, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Visitation will be from 10-Noon on Friday, January 7, 2022 at Kruger Coan Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Services will follow at noon with Chuck Alt officiating. He will be laid to rest beside his wife Linda in Greenwood Cemetery following services.

Jim was born to Frank and Roberta (Watson) Wright on July 10, 1942 in Danville. He attended Danville schools as long as he had to (through the eighth grade), before he entered the working world at Dean’s Paint as an antique furniture refinisher. He later went to work at Bohn Aluminum and spent forty-two years working for them as a Material Handler before retiring in the early 2000’s. When he wasn’t working, Jim enjoyed building his own race cars, racing them, and attending car shows. He enjoyed throwing horseshoes, and traveled all over the country attending the different competitions and championships. Camping was another favorite pastime, with Red Wood Hills being one of his favorite campgrounds. Jim was a snowbird, and could be found wintering in Florida with his wife from November to at least April.

Jim married Linda Magruder on March 9, 1962 in Danville and the two shared fifty-seven years together before her passing in 2019. He leaves behind his seven grandchildren: Barbie Wright, Kimberly (Dustin) Hix, K.C. Bruce, Wright Geiken, Jeffrey (Mandy) Davis, Loretta Geiken, and William Powell; great grandchildren: Caylynne Dobbles, Jennalynne Wright, Jesse Felix Jr., Paul Meuiner III, Kolton Hix, Sophie Davis, Bentley Miller, Koda Davis, and Bubba Davis; and three great-great grandchildren: Stella Dobbles, Holden Dobbles, and Brelynne “Baby Kid” McGuire. He will also be greatly missed by his four sisters: Judy Stevens, Donna Mascari, Bonnie (Larry) Hall, and Joy “JoJo” Wright. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Linda, his four daughters: Jeanine Wright, Jennie Wright-Geiken, Kimberly Wright Bogart, and Cheryl Wright Powell, one grandchild: Alan Wright Bogart Jr.; his two brothers: John “Tiny” Wright and Frankie Wright; one sister: Karen Wright; and a special niece: Debra Michelle “Shelly” Wright.
