Janice DeWitt Obituary

Janice Marie DeWitt, 76 of Danville, passed away on Wednesday, December 29, 2021  at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, surrounded by those she loved. Per her wishes, there will be no public services.

Janice was born on August 29, 1945 in Hoopeston, Illinois to Floyd and Eleanora (Lloyd) Youngblood. She was raised in central Indiana where she attended school at Lawrence Central High School, graduating in 1963. Janice spent her life living primarily in Central Indiana and Central Illinois. She owned and operated several small businesses successfully through the years including a bar & grill, a salon, and a ceramics studio. Her final career was that of a Registered Nurse when she received her BSN from Indiana University in the early 90’s.  She spent her time working in different prisons in both Illinois and Indiana as an RN prior to her retirement. When she wasn’t chasing her dreams, Janice could often be found tending to her flower and vegetable gardens and watching her hummingbirds.  She was very artistic and enjoyed doing anything outside with her husband Walt including camping, fishing and walking in the woods.  Janice unconditionally loved all of her fur babies especially her dog “Taj” who I am certain met her at the gates of heaven wagging her tail and licking her face!

On December 27, 1996, Janice married Walter DeWitt and the two just shared their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. She leaves behind her husband Walter, three children: Eric (Penny) Goble, Spencer, IN, Tad (Kelly) Goble, Alvin, IL , and Lance (Alisha) Vecellio, Westfield, IN, and multiple grandchildren who will all miss her dearly. Janice was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Ron Youngblood.
