Jay E. Roberts, 68 of Danville, passed away on Friday, November 21, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Visitation will be on Tuesday, November 25th from 4-7pm at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Services will be on Wednesday, November 26th at Noon at Kruger Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park.
Jay was born in Danville on September 12, 1957 to Ronald and Dolores (Christie) Roberts. He attended Danville area schools and graduated from Danville High School in 1975. Jay entered the working world working at Redwood Inn and then worked for the Local 703 for thirty-six years as a laborer. He also owned and operated his own asphalt seal-coating business, as well as snow removal, during this time as well.
Jay loved camping, hunting, fishing, and mushroom hunting. He liked to shoot pool and play euchre. A day didn’t go by without him driving around town, checking out the job sites to ensure everything was being done correctly. But most of all, he loved his family and being with them. Jay was the funny guy who had an amazing sense of humor, and was lovingly known as “Crazy Jay” to those who knew him well.
Jay leaves behind his wife Kathleen (Horn) Roberts who has spent the past thirty-five years by his side; his three children: Jason Roberts, Tara (Damon) Bellik, and Katelyn Jae Roberts; eight grandchildren: Damon Bellik Jr, Elexis Roberts, Jayden Roberts, Ka’Mya Bellik, Raylen Roberts, Ka’Leah Bellik, Anneliese Roberts, and Abbagayle Crawley; and two great-grandchildren: Ke’Loni Chambers and Synia Chambers. Jay also leaves behind his sister Christie (Ronald) Roth of Granite City, IL. and his brother James (Paula) Roberts of Ramona, CA. His fur babies Theo and Nova will also greatly miss him. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his in-laws: Jack and Jean Horn.
