Jerry Erwin, 82 of Danville, passed away on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at his home surrounded by his family. Visitation will be from 10-1pm on Monday, June 6th at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. A sharing of memories will begin at 1pm. Following services he will be cremated and a private family burial will take place at a later date.
Jerry was born on March 5, 1940 in Oakwood to Vernon and Faith (Cole) Erwin. He attended Oakwood schools through the tenth grade until entering into the work force. Jerry worked as a Heavy Machine Operator for International Operating Engineers 841 for over forty-four years until his retirement in 2005. He loved Nascar, was obsessed with mowing his yard, and enjoyed drinking his tea. He lived for his grandkids and enjoyed teasing them and trying to get a rise out of them.
Jerry married Judy (Winkler) Cundiff on June 25, 1988, and she preceded him in 1999. He leaves behind his six children: Larry Erwin, Jeff Erwin, Timothy (Shea) Erwin, James (Teresa) Erwin, Holly (Ben) Dittmar, and Stephanie (Jason) Johnson; his grandchildren Nathan, Trenton, Connor, Brooke, Joseph, and Karlee he was especially close to; twelve other grandchildren; and fourteen great grandchildren. His siblings Marlyn (Raymond) Parrish, Lona Reed, and Carla (Tony)Wade also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, a baby sister Helen, son Jerry Erwin Jr, brother Denny Erwin, sister Marian Lumsargis, and his wife Judy Erwin.
