Joseph James Burton Jr., 77, of Tilton, passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville. Memorial visitation is from 11-1pm Friday, August 27, 2021 at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Memorial service is at 1 pm Friday, August 27, 2021. Burial will follow at Songer Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 210
Joe was born October 11, 1943 in Tilton to Joseph James Burton Sr. and Wanda Worley. He was a US Marine Veteran. Joe retired from Bumper Works as a quality control manager. He enjoyed fishing, and loved spending time with family and friends, especially the family reunions and gatherings.
Joe married Lori Volkel July 3, 1993, she survives. Also surviving are his children: Kevin (Angie) Burton, Lori Wittig, Joseph L. (Megan) Burton, and Sarah Burton; grandchildren: Melissa Burton, Amanda Burton, Alexandra Wittig, Terran Wittig, Logan Hurst, and Nick Hurst; several great-grandchildren; sister: Wanda Moore; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; sisters: Mary Maxwell, Dora Wright, and JoAnne Schultz.
