Kevin “Stump” Thomas Sr, 62 of Danville, passed away unexpectantly on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Visitation will be at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville from 11-1pm on Monday, October 6th. A Celebration of Life will follow at 1pm. Burial will take place at Michael Cemetery in Indianola.
Stump was born in Danville on February 14, 1963 to Ronald Leon and Patricia Ann (Taylor) Thomas. He attended Indianola schools and Westville High School. Kevin worked for the Local 374 for thirty-eight years as a boiler maker.
Stump enjoyed golfing, fishing with his brother John and step-mom Rita, watching sports on TV, dancing, riding his Harley, and spending time with those he loved.
He was a great story teller and had the best sense of humor. Stump was the life of the party wherever he went and he never met a stranger. He was an avid Bears fan.
Stump met his wife Mary Harris at the PowWow and after a year together, they were married on June 23, 2018. They’ve shared the good and the bad, the sickness and the health, and it of course was not nearly long enough. Kevin also leaves behind his children: Kevin (Shelbey) Thomas Jr, Trishia Thomas, Logan (Patricia) Sanders, and Hannah Sanders (Travis Digby); seven grandchildren: Evan “Creep” Thomas, Dahlia “Little Bit” Adair, Kennedy “Ladybug” Sanders, Noah “Buddy Row” Sanders, Brentlee “Buckaroo” Ogle, Rylee “Rosebud” Digby, and Charlee “Blue” Digby; three brothers: Ronnie Thomas, John Thomas, and Donnie Ray (Jami) High; and a sister Beth Tharpe. Kevin was preceded in death by his grandparents, his parents, a sister Vicki Frazier, and a brother Curt Thomas.
