Larry Earl Simmers, 68 of Danville, left us to be reunited with his beloved Sharon in Heaven on Monday, May 22, 2023 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 30th from 12-1pm at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Services will follow at 1pm with Pastor Phil Jackson officiating. Burial will take place in Oak Hill Cemetery off of Shangri La Road.
Larry was the oldest child born to Earl and Iris (Stout) Simmers in Danville on June 30, 1954. He attended Danville grade schools and DHS, later going to DACC and earning his Associate’s Degree. Larry worked at CCL for twenty-two years as a Fork Lift Operator and also delivered newspapers for the Commercial News for many, many years. When he wasn’t working he could be found watching wrestling, racing, football and baseball on TV. He was an avid Cubs fan, and most recently a Lakers fan. Larry loved taking photographs- especially of classic cars.
Larry married Sharon Juvinall on April 26, 1978 and the two shared thirty-eight years together before her passing in November of 2016. He leaves behind his two children: Bradley (Amy) Simmers and Charlene (Ryan) Walsh, his eight grandchildren: Adian, Katelynn, Dean, Blayton, Hunter, Courtney, Shyann, and Noah, and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Sharon, and his younger brother Ricky Simmers.
