Laura Kay Cooper, 62 of Danville, left us all too soon on Wednesday, February 11th, 2026 at Goldwater Care of Danville. In her last few days she was surrounded by the love she so freely gave throughout her life.
Laura was born in Danville to Donald and Carol (Drews) Russian on August 25, 1963. She attended Danville area schools and worked throughout the years at both the hospital and Best Western in housekeeping. Laura’s biggest passion in life was taking care of her family, making their house a home, and being there for all of her children’s milestones.
Laura married Aron Cooper on July 18, 1998.Together, they shared thirty years of companionship until Aron's passing in January of 2020. Laura and Aron were blessed with three children: Justine, Amy, and Jacob, all of whom survive her.
When she wasn’t working, Laura enjoyed spending time with family and friends by attending birthday parties, sporting events, and playing BINGO.
Those who knew Laura will remember her caring spirit and her gift for making others feel at ease. Her laughter and sense of humor brought lightness even on challenging days. She found joy in simple moments and created a home filled with warmth, acceptance, and love. Her legacy lives on in the values she instilled, the memories she created, and the love that continues to bind her family together.
Family and friends closest to her always admired her elegant handwriting. Each letter reflected her patience and attention to detail, turning even ordinary notes into something special.
Laura leaves behind her three children: Justine (Jonas) Story, Amy Cooper (Marshall Peaslee), and Jake Cooper (Rachel Irby); and nine grandchildren: Zaylen, Caydence, Alexus, and Amahya Peaslee; Jillian, James, and Joseph Story; Ava, and Remmington Cooper. A brother, Steve (Debbie) Russian, and brother-in-law Gary Mansfield as well as many extended family members and close friends, who will miss her dearly.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Aron, and her sister, Marsha Russian-Mansfield.
Per her wishes, Laura has chosen to be cremated, and a Celebration of Life will be Saturday, February 21st at 1:00pm at Southside Church of Christ, 611 Forrest St. Danville, IL. Pastor Dave Martin will officiate.
