Laurie E. Brewer, 61 of Ridge Farm, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, December 11, 2024 at OSF Sacred Heart in Danville. Per her wishes, she will be cremated and a Memorial Visitation will be on Friday, December 20th from 4-6pm at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street. A Memorial Service will follow at 6pm with Greg Taylor officiating.
Laurie was born in Brooklyn, New York on January 30, 1963 to Dwight and Helane “Dolly” (Harden) Larson. She spent part of her childhood in Brooklyn before moving to the Charleston area when she was six years old. Laurie held the most important job in the world as a stay at home mom until her children started school. She later worked at an onion ring plant, KIK, and Northern Harvest Furniture Factory. Laurie has a knack for refinishing old wood pieces, liked to go camping in her younger years, and above all else loved being a Grandma. Just last year her and William took a “never been west” tour and traveled all over the western states, and she truly enjoyed that.
In 1983 Laurie was introduced to the love of her life, William Brewer, who worked at a muffler shop with her brother. The two began a forty-two year love story that hasn’t ended but just became long-distance. William and Laurie were married on June 28, 1991 and he survives today. Also surviving are their children: Kristina Wheeler, Dwight (Kelly) Wheeler, Beth (Adam) Blazaitis, and Andrew Brewer (Brenna Stone); eleven grandchildren: Tyler (Marisa), Ashayla, Brayden, Kendra, Dwight Jr, Robert, Rosalee, Isabell, Kendall, Daxton, and Camdyn; three great-grandchildren: Mazikeen, Katerina, and Lillith; her sister: Sherri (Kevin) Ferguson; and three brothers: Dennis (Stephanie) Larson, Robert (Dianna) Larson, and Erik Larson. Her mother Helane “Dolly” Larson also survives and will greatly miss her. She was preceded in death by her father Dwight.
