Leroy Burton, 90 of Danville, went Home to be with those he loved on Friday, October 24, 2025 at his home. A memorial visitation will be on Sunday, November 9, 2025 at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville from 1-3pm. A brief Memorial Service will take place at 3pm. He will be inurned at Danville National Cemetery at a later date.
Leroy was born on March 2, 1935 in Kokomo, Indiana to Rolland and Eliza Bell (Wilson) Burton. He grew up in the Kokomo area, eventually enlisting in the US Army where he would serve active duty during the Korean War. He stayed in Germany after the war and later served during The Vietnam War as well. He returned stateside and remained in the US National Guard for some time, going back again and serving fourteen months in the Iraq conflicts.
After serving his time for our country, Leroy worked in many different walks of life. He was an entrepreneur and owned Danville Rental & Sales from the early 1970’s until the 90’s. Leroy would also work at the Danville Illiana VA Hospital in janitorial and maintenance, and later as a transport driver for new RV’s across the US and Canada. When he wasn’t working, Leroy enjoyed country line dancing in the Indianapolis area with his wife Judy and the two of them knew over a hundred line dances. The two also enjoyed taking on adventures with his wife and his three boys. He instilled a sense of adventure in all of them, and saw not only every state, but most of Canada and Newfoundland. Leroy was an avid mechanic and could fix anything- something he instilled in his boys. Above all else, he loved his family and just being with them. His last wish was to see his great-grandchildren grow up.
Leroy married the love of his life, Judith Chism on April 6, 1958 and the two shared sixty-four years together before her passing in 2022. He literally held on to her, and loved her, until his dying breath.
Leroy leaves behind his three sons: Harry “Duane” (Connie) Burton, Jody (Sue) Burton, and Leroy B. Burton; eleven grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his loving wife Judy, and his siblings: Jenny, Dwayne, Wayne, and Leland.
