Kay Herbold, 85 of Danville, passed away on Thursday, August 15, 2024 at Accolade Healthcare in Danville. Visitation will be at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street on Thursday, August 22nd from 5-6pm Services will be at 10am on Friday, August 23rd at the funeral home with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating. Burial will take place at Danville National Cemetery.
Kay was born in Danville on May 28, 1939 to Kenneth and Catherine (Campbell) Howrey. She attended Danville grade schools and graduated from DHS in 1957. She went on to attend DACC and then Lakeview College of Nursing where she graduated in 1960. Kay worked as a Registered Nurse at the Danville VA for over thirty-four years. When she wasn’t working you could often find her reading anything she could; magazines, newspapers, catalogues, and books. She also adored spending time with her grandbabies.
Kay married Charles A. Herbold on December 19, 1965, and the two were blessed to share thirty-one years together, and raise two boys, before his passing in 1996.
Kay leaves behind her two boys: Michael (Jeanne) Herbold and Russ Herbold; a grandson: Brandon (Briteney) Herbold; two great grandsons: Bryson and Braxton; and Brandon’s mother: Laura (Randy) Fletcher who remained close throughout the years. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and a sister Susie.
