Martha Jean (Mode) Davis

Martha Jean Davis, 85 of Danville, left us suddenly on Thursday, August 25, 2022 at Pleasant Meadows Nursing Home in Chrisman, IL. Visitation will be from 10:30-12:30 pm on Thursday, September 1st at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Mass will start at 1:00 pm at Holy Family Catholic Church, 444 E. Main Street with Father Loftus officiating. Burial will be at the Danville National Cemetery.

      Martha was born August 7, 1937 in Terre Haute, IN to George and Genevieve (Perrin) Mode, Sr. She attended St. Patrick Grade School and graduated from Schlarman High School. Throughout the years, Martha enjoyed working with people. She worked at Lakeview Memorial Hospital, Goldblatts Dept. Store and retired from Woodbury’s Book Company.  Martha was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening, crafts, and especially spending time with her grandchildren.  She was an avid Chicago Cubs and Bears fan.

     Martha married Thomas Henderson Davis on November 30, 1957 at St. Paul’s Church by the Rev. Richard Mode and Rev. Charles Motsett and the two shared nearly fifty-five years together before his passing in 2012. She is survived by her two children: Scott Thomas Davis and Marla (Michael) Lane; six grandchildren, Devin Davis, Lindsey (Keith) Whetsell, Perry Davis, Kassandra Davis (Darian Shearon), Kevin Lane and Mollee (Kyle) McMasters, two great grandchildren, Mason Davis, Kane Shearon and (one on the way), a nephew, Charles (Helen) Mode, great niece, Anna (Jeff) Lobue and a great-great nephew, Oliver Lobue.  She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, an infant son, two brothers, George Mode, Jr. and Rev. Richard Mode and a special stepmother, Helen Mode.
