Maru J. Nolan passed away Sunday, March 7, 2021. Visitation will be from 10:00-12:00pm Monday, March 15, 2021 at Central Christian Church, 1101 N. Vermilion Street in Danville. Service will be at 12:30pm at Central Christian Church. Current CDC and IDPH guidelines will be strictly enforced regarding social distancing, masks, and allowable numbers
She was born in Danville on Jan. 6, 1933 to the late Earnest and Anna (Falconio) Ollis. She attended Garfield Grade School and graduated from Danville High School in 1950.
She was united in marriage to her grade school sweet heart Richard Nolan on May 3, 1952. He preceded her in death on Aug. 9 1979.
She attended DJC school of Practical Nursing and received her LPN in 1964. She worked 24 years for Dr. Laury and Dr. Rokosch.
Maru was a member of Central Christian Church in Danville, where she sang in the choir, participated in the bell choir, CWF and other group meetings. She was a devoted woman of faith and passed those beliefs to everyone she met. Living her life to the fullest and touching so many lives along the way.
She is survived by her children: Mara Weir, Gina (Doug) Seymour and Liz (Dan) Strader of Danville, and Blake (Stacy) Nolan of Jasper Indiana.
Grandchildren: Marc (Lori) Weir, Greg (Sarah) Weir, Stefanie (Jeremy) Smith, Ryan (Sarah) and Jake Seymour, Courtney (Matt) Crabtree, Whitney (Ken) Cottle, Kaitlyn (Kyle) Ervin, Patrick and Sarah Strader, Addison, Ben and Connor Nolan.
Great grandchildren: Dallas, Daelyn and Dhakiya Weir, Emalee, Jace, and Blake Smith, Nolan and Rylee Weir, Caleb, Hannah, Zoe, Jude, Luke and Mara Seymour, Isabella and Sophie Leemon, Easton and Jackson Cottle, Lily and Nathan Ervin.
And many special nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Ollis, son in law Bruce Weir, grandson Bruce Leemon.
Maru was dancer all of her life later becoming a dance teacher. She danced up in to her early 80’s including family dances with her children and grandchildren.
She was president of the PTA, Girl Scout leader, participated in the Northeast Neighborhood Assoc., Faith in Action, Danville Garden Club, Elks Lodge and a Danville Citizen Police Alumni.
Always involved in her children and grandchildren’s lives attending every ballgame, graduation, swim meet, and any other activity that they had. There are so many memories and traditions that will be cherished forever. You did not join the family without getting your personalized knitted Christmas stocking.
We are so thankful for this precious soul and will be forever grateful for the time we had with her.
