Danville, Ill. - Mary K. Carter, 97, of Danville passed away at 9:52 p.m. Thursday, June 9, 2022 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, Illinois.
She was born June 21, 1924, the second born and only daughter of the late Ferris and Kathryn (Finnin) Cramer.
She married Walter W. Carter of Bismarck on May 31, 1947 in the parsonage of Saint Patricks Church. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2002.
Surviving is two daughters: Debra and Rita; two sons: Timothy (Michelle) Carter, and Gregory Carter; Grandchildren: Ryan (Paulina) Brumfield, Nic (Kim) Carter, Christopher Carter, Ariel (Nic) Wright, Garrett (Jenna) Carter, Jacob (Amy) Carter, Blake (Jessica) Carter, Tara Carter, Jennifer Carter and Chase Carter; Great-grandchildren: Mason, Myla, Athena, Getorix, Orion, Fiona, Noah, Bella, Layka and Steven.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son: Randall Carter and four brothers: John, Ferris, Stanley and Kenny.
Mary attended Diamond Grade School and graduated from Oakwood High School in 1942 claiming the title of Basketball Queen in 1941. After high school, she started working at Chuckles Candy Factory and also working at General Electric where she retired from after 27 years.
She belonged the Saint Paul's Catholic Church. She prided herself on living in the same home for 72 years where Thanksgiving and Christmas were always outstanding due to Mary being a great food and pie maker.
Graveside Service: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 16, 2022 at Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck, Illinois; Officiating: Fr. Thomas Szydlik. There will be no visitation. The family asks that donations be made to Saint Paul Catholic Church or to the Humane Society of Danville. They would also like to thank all of Mary's caregivers that she has had over the years.
