We are deeply sorry for your loss - the staff at Kruger Funeral Home
Maxine “Grandma Magazine” Irene Hale, 85 of Danville, left us peacefully on Sunday, July 10, 2022 at Hawthorne Inn of Danville. Per her wishes there will be no public services.
Maxine was born to Milo and Florence (Collins) Bell in Ridge Farm, Illinois on May 24, 1937. She attended Olivet and Georgetown schools, graduating from Westville High School and going on to attend Lakeview College of Nursing where she graduated as an RN. Maxine spent a couple years as a registered nurse at Lakeview, and later retired from the Danville VA Hospital after twenty-eight years there. She was an avid gardener, enjoying the outdoors, and being part of the Master Gardeners Club. Maxine was a talented seamstress, just like her mother before her, and she made nearly all of her children’s clothes and costumes when they were younger. She enjoyed crafting- anything that she could do with her hands- and could often be found with crochet hooks or macrame looms. The past few years, Golden Girls, Perry Mason, and the Hallmark Channel were constants on her T.V.
Maxine leaves behind her children: Dawn Rambole, Yolanda Hale (Shane Willoughby), Larry (Debbie) Saunders, Melodee Kielich (Todd Wells), Fred (Maggie) Saunders, and Lance Saunders (Sandra Moody); her sister Evelyn Haurez; a brother: Charles F. (Eunice “Boots”) Bell; and thirty-eight grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren,. She was preceded in death by her parents, her son-in-law: Johnny Rambole, her sister Joann Bell, and her brothers John M. (Joyce) Bell and Melvin E. Bell.
Sundays will never be the same for Larry and Dawn who have spent every Sunday with her for the past seventeen years. Maxine will leave a hole in our hearts that no one can ever fill, as she was loved by everyone that she came across. Messages and memories may be left on our website at www.KrugerCoanPape.com, or on the Kruger Funeral Home Facebook page. Donations may be made in Maxine’s name to an organization of the donor’s choice.
