Michael Ray Curtis, 74 of Westfield, IN and formerly of Danville, passed away, surrounded by those he loved on Wednesday, May 24, 2023 at The Waters of Covington. Visitation will be from 12:30-1:30pm on Wednesday, May 31 at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Services will immediately follow at 1:30pm on Wednesday with Logan Kirby officiating. Following services Mike will be laid to rest next to his parents at Walnut Corner Cemetery with full military honors by American Legion Post 210.
Mike was the first son born to Robert and Viola (Carter) Curtis on July 26, 1948 in Danville. He was one of five children and grew up in the Danville area, attending Danville Grade Schools and DHS. Upon completing school, he enlisted in the US Army and served during Vietnam. As a youth, Mike enjoyed playing baseball and was a fan of music, even picking up on how to play the guitar. As he grew older he continued his love of music and guitar and became an Elvis and Johnny Cash fan. Mike also enjoyed spending time with his siblings, nieces, and nephews.
Mike leaves behind his son Ron (Brenda) Martin; several grandchildren; his two sisters: Barbara (Mark) Thiede and Shirley Harris; his two brothers: Larry (Jadoun) Curtis and Kenneth (Susan) Curtis; and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind his caregiver and best friend Tony Ramirez; no one could ask for a better friend than him. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and both maternal and paternal grandparents.
