Patricia Millikin Obituary

Patricia Ann Millikin, 80 of Henning, slipped from this world into eternal rest on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at her daughter’s home surrounded by her closest family. Per her wishes, she will be cremated and Graveside Services will be on Monday, February 3rd at 11am at The Danville National Cemetery. Immediately following services, a gathering will be held at The Henning Town Hall for friends and family.

Patricia was born on September 12, 1939 in Danville to Frank and Frances (Rector) Parson. She attended Danville schools and went on to take classes at Danville Junior College. She enjoyed raising her two children and being involved in their lives, taking on the role of Baton Mom, Girl Scout Mom, and Room Mother for several years. Pat later became a major part of her grandsons’ lives, and it brought her great pleasure. She worked for a short time as Assistant Manager at Meis Dept. Store in the Ready-To-Wear Dept. Pat loved to read, especially Cornwell and Cook novels, and was an avid sewer. She loved to crochet and enjoyed helping her sister make quilts for both her family and the St. Louis Children’s Hospital.  Pat was also a genealogy buff and enjoyed modern technology researching her family history.

Pat married George Arthur Millikin on January 11, 1958 in Danville, and the two shared over fifty-eight years together before his passing in 2016. George and Pat enjoyed spending time with one another. Together they bowled in leagues, enjoyed camping trips, boating, trips to riverboat casinos, and traveling anywhere and everywhere their hearts desired.

Pat, or “Patty” to those close to her, is survived by her two children: George L. Millikin and Christina Weathers (Jeff Hagley); her grandsons Vincent M. Weathers, Ryan Tokarek, Kyle Millikin, Lucas Millikin; sisters-in-law: Linda Parson and Grace Parson; and a sister: Sherry (Brent) Marlin. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends and close neighbors. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George; two brothers: Raymond Parson and William Parson; one sister: Diana Baker; a sister-in-law: Norma Brown; and a son-in-law: Michael Weathers.

The family extends a heartfelt thank-you to the nursing staff and palliative care staff from Transitions Hospice, and also Lisa Aquino who cared and visited with her daily.
