Raymond Edward Hilleary Jr, 73 of Danville, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 18, 2022 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Born on September 20, 1948 to Ray and Betsy (Hines) Hilleary, he was raised and attended Danville schools. Upon graduating from high school Ray entered into the US Navy and proudly served for two years during Vietnam. Upon his return from the service Ray found a job at General Electric, where he met the love of his life Pamela Richards. After a brief courtship, the two decided it was forever and tied the knot on July 24, 1971 in Westville. They have shared nearly fifty-one years together.
Ray later went to work at General Motors and worked there for twenty-five years before his retirement in 1997. When he wasn’t working, Ray could often be found outside working in his yard and gardening. He and Pam enjoyed traveling to Las Cruces, New Mexico, Dallas Fort Worth, TX, and Tampa, FL to visit their families.
Ray leaves behind his wife Pam; three children: Lisa (James) Glover, Raymond Hilleary III (Julia), and Pamela Sue Williams; and fourteen grandchildren-twelve girls and two boys. Their seven great grandchildren and the one due in March will also greatly miss their Pa. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister in 1949, and a stepbrother Richard Hines.
