Rickey Varvel Obituary

Rickey Lee Varvel, 69, of Danville, passed away August 15, 2021 at home. Visitation will be from 2:00 – 4:00 pm Monday, August 23, 2021 at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Service will follow at 4:00pm at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home, with Pastor Raymie Gordon officiating.

Rick was born July 29, 1952 in Danville, IL to Richard and Irene (Moody) Varvel. Rick graduated from Danville High School in 1970. He worked at Central Illinois Scale Company, and many years at county Market being a manager. He enjoyed his bowling league in his younger days. Rick also enjoyed dancing, and loved his cookouts with family and friends.

Rick is survived by his children: Robbyn (Jeff) Hill, Tish Varvel, and Jessica (Gene) Lucas; 8 grandchildren: Taylor (Isaiah) Gentry, Chad (Makaylee) Hartman, Elizabeth (Darrian) Hartman, Lucas (Aislinn) Hartman, Kenzi (Jordan) Duprey, Johnny Duprey III, Jake Duprey, and Zandrick Varvel; 4 great-grandchildren: Maylannie, Noah, Re’ann, Nylah, and Lucas Jr.; brother John (Cindy) Columbo; 2 sisters: Susan Kingery and Lisa (Jeff) Arnold; and girlfriend Vicky Walton. Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Varvel and Irene Columbo.
