Robert F. Kruger, 94 of Danville, left this life peacefully to be reunited with his beloved wife Dorothy in Heaven on Saturday, June 1, 2024 at his home. Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 5th from 10-Noon at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 East Williams Street in Danville. Masonic Services will follow at 12pm by Anchor Masonic Lodge No. 980. Burial will take place beside his wife at Sunset Memorial Park. The family requests that you come as you are.
Robert was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 8, 1930 to John Frank and Frances (Bigus) Kruger. He worked as a truck driver and was a member of both Anchor Masonic Lodge and Teamsters. Robert loved playing poker, drinking beer, and visiting with his friends at the bar.
Robert married the love of his life, Dorothy Mae Ames on February 27, 1948 and the two shared just shy of sixty years together before her passing on October 31, 2007. They raised nine children together and made a life for themselves here in Danville. And since her passing he has waited for this reunion every day.
Robert leaves behind his eight children: Mary Kruger, Susie Kruger, Nancy (Danny) Doggett, Rita Hill, Bill Kruger, Karl Kruger, John A. Kruger, and Jim (Linda) Kruger; a son-in-law: Scott Davis; nineteen grandchildren: Jackie Lyle, Dorothy Nelson, Joann (Joe) Benjamin, John (Jen) Kruger, Melissa (Chris) Dedman, Shannon Davis (Corey Bailey), Bill Michael (Mindy) Kruger, Tammy (Chad) Kipper, Carrie Schumacher, Mark (Amy)Schumacher,Tyler (Lauren) Kruger, Jason (Carrie) Doggett, Adam (Jennifer) Doggett, Nathan (Andrea) Doggett, Bethanie (Grady) Glissendorf , Tracy (Schuyler) Grant, Adam (Dana) Cordes, Kristina (Michael) Kirby, and Ryan (Mackensie) Kruger; twenty-nine great grandchildren: Marie Elliott, John David Lyle, Jacob Lyle, Zacuary Hill, Bailey Nelson, Austin Benjamin (Gwendolyn), Noah Benjamin, Grady Dedman, Ella Dedman, Trey Dandridge, Mya Bailey, Natalie Kruger, Chevy Kruger, Riyan Krajnik, Breanna Krajnik, Haylee Falck, Brynlee Kruger, Cohen Doggett, Kara Doggett, Rylynn Doggett, Asa Doggett, Ben Hesse, Chloe Grant, Emma Cordes, Elliott Cordes, Zayden Brigman, Kiera Brigman, Xavier Kirby, and Damon Kruger. He also leaves behind sixteen great-great grandchildren: Audrey Elliott, Catherine Elliott, Sadie Lyle, Jacob Lyle, Lincoln Benjamin, Riley Benjamin, River Benjamin, Theo Benjamin, Kyler Sailor, Milo Sailor, Kam Sailor, Steven Shuttuck, Addison Kruger, Mason Kruger, and Bowen Kruger. He was preceded in death by his parents, his beloved wife Dorothy, a daughter Debra Davis, a daughter-in-law: Mary Kruger, two great-grandchildren: Nathaniel Benjamin and Patricia Kruger, two infant brothers, an infant sister, and his sister Jeanette Biener.
