Ruth Crose Obituary

Ruth Ann Crose, 68, of Killeen, Texas, formerly of Danville, Illinois, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2021.  Visitation will be from 4-6pm Monday, June 14, 2021, at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street.  Service will be at 11am Tuesday, June 15, 2021, at the funeral home, with burial to follow at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Ruth was born March 24, 1953, in Terre Haute, Indiana to Wilbur and Gladys (Stover) Edmunds. Throughout Ruth’s life, she went by many names; Daughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Aunt, Mamo and Momma, Ruthie, Rufus, friend and when needed even Ruth Ann. If you were lucky enough to call her by any one of those names, then you know what it is like to have someone love you because Ruthie loved all her family and friends. Ruth spent her life serving; often writing down important dates in case you needed a reminder, to her being filled with joy as you opened a special gift she heard you say you wanted months prior. Having a talent in the kitchen, Ruth worked most of her career as a baker with the County Market. After work, you likely spent time with her either at the bowling alley, the Moose Lodge, card club, dance floor, Home Interior and Avon parties, or just a good old fashion family cookout, any reason worked to bring people together. Conversations typically centered around her family, her soaps, who won on Big Brother, Survivor or American Idol. Baking cakes on birthdays, weddings, or special occasions, was just another way she showed you she cared. Yet with such a busy schedule, her family always had a home cooked meal on the table. Taking a break for herself, Ruth enjoyed watching all her favorite Lifetime and Hallmark movies. The phrase “wearing your heart on your sleeve” well that was Ruth because she often wore no sleeves, there was no hiding her emotions, you knew exactly how she felt. Her legacy lives on in the hearts and minds of all her family and friends.

Ruth married Charles Clark Crose Jr on July 14, 1979 at Vermilion Heights Christian Church in Danville, Charles passed away December 15, 2012.  Surviving are children: Barbara Johnson, Charles (Tiffany) Crose III, Clifford (Jennifer) Crose, and Joseph (Taylor) Crose; grandchildren: Andrew, Charles IV, David, Christian, Cameron, Caleb, Vivian, Naomi, and great-grandchild Rowan.

Ruth is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and baby sister Susan Valdez. She is also survived by her sister Jackie (Eddy) Neally and brother Robert (Carrie) Edmunds; cousins, nieces, nephews, a lifelong friend in Theresa Sollars and many others.
