Sandra L. Bartley

  Sandra L. (Gash) Bartley, 77, of Danville, passed away in Urbana, IL on Sunday, June 7, 2020. 

  Sandra was born in Lawrenceburg, IN on August 2, 1942, to Charles and Florence (Johnson) Gash.  They later moved to the Georgetown Illinois area, then Tilton Illinois area where Sandra went to Tilton Grade School and Danville High School.  She worked many babysitting jobs and after high school she went to work at a canning factory in Hoopeston, then she worked for years in sewing factories.

  Sandra met Robert B. Bartley and they were married on August 6, 1961.  Sandra and Robert lived in Urbana where they had their first son Robert J in 1962.  They later moved to Danville where they had their second son Jimmie B. in 1965.  Sandra returned to working in sewing factories in Danville until a serious health condition forced her to leave the sewing career.  Her focus then turned to being a wonderful homemaker, wife, and mother, where she exceeded the standard in all three.

  Sandra still enjoyed sewing especially making clothes and she was very good at it.  She once made a wedding dress from two patterns that the young lady liked, it was perfect and this lady still has the dress.  In the last ten years or so, she enjoyed making throw quilts, and won prizes with them in local fairs.  She enjoyed gardening vegetables and flowers, all kinds of crafts, fishing, target practicing, car rides and traveling, festivals and fairs, tractor pulls and demo derby’s.  She loved bowling, and was very good.  She had many trophies from her years of league bowling.  One of the joys in her life was driving a school bus, she loves children and loved this opportunity.  All the kids called her mom, she was a loving, caring, giving, forgiving, selfless lady that put her family first.

  Sandra is proceeded in eternity by her husband Robert, and survived by her son Robert J. of Bon Aqua, TN, and son Jimmie B. of Danville, IL.  Visitation will be Wednesday, June 10, 2020 from 4-8pm at Kruger-Coan-Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. 

On Saturday, June 13, 2020, Visitation will be from 11-1 pm at Yokley Trible Funeral Home in Tompkinsville, KY.  Funeral services will follow on Saturday, June 13, 2020 at 1 pm at Yokley Trible Funeral Home, with burial to follow at White Cemetery in Tompkinsville, KY
