Sandra “Sandy” Lynn Burgoyne, 80 of Danville, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022 in Danville.
Sandy was born March 22, 1942 in Danville to Squire and Alice (Wynn) Stewart. She attended McKinley Grade School and Danville High School, and was a lifelong resident of Vermilion Heights. She worked as an RN at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital, Hyster, the Danville Illiana VA Medical Center, and Colonial Manor. Sandy was also a teacher and member of the Redbud China Guild since 1970.
Sandy married her childhood sweetheart Stephen “Steve” Burgoyne on August 20, 1961 in Danville, and the two have shared almost sixty-one wonderful years together. She will be dearly missed by her husband: Steve Burgoyne; her children: Jon (Tracy) Burgoyne of Mooresville, IN; Michele (Chris) Lehman of Danville, IL; and Lynette (Doug) Hyland of Tavernier, FL; her grandchildren: Michael (Brandy) Burgoyne, Nichole (Daniel) Prince, Stephanie (Andy) Franke, Cassidy Alverson, Samuel Alverson, Stephen (Kaitlyn) Lehman, Marcus Lehman, Jon (Rachel) Lehman, Sydney Michael (Brennen Wright), and Kyle (Taylor) Michael; her eight great grandchildren; and her brother: Duane (Sandy) Stewart. She will also be greatly missed by many close friends and acquaintances. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and a brother Gary Stewart.
Sandy loved and cherished spending time with her family, visiting state parks, traveling, and china painting. She was a great cook, hosting all of the holiday celebrations at their house, and always looking forward to seeing the children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She loved keeping up with family events through Facebook, pictures, and videos. Sandy was selfless, always putting everyone else’s needs before her own.
Sandy was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Danville. She had faith in God and was confident that she would spend eternity in Heaven.
Visitation will be from 11am-Noon on Tuesday, June 28, 2022 at Kruger Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Services will follow at Noon with Pastor Robert Fairchild officiating.
