Shirley Kathryn Cox

   Shirley Kathryn Cox, 86 of Danville, passed peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2021 at Hawthorne Inn of Danville. Visitation will be from 10-11am on Monday, July 12, 2021 at Kruger Coan Pape Funeral Home, 10 E. Williams Street in Danville. Services will follow at 11am with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery immediately following.

   Shirley was born on September 24, 1934 in Danville to Harry and Esther (Schafer) Gibson. She attended Danville schools, graduating from DHS in the early 1950’s. Shirley married Wilbur Cox on September 15, 1956 and the two shared forty-five years together before his passing in 2001. Throughout the years Shirley was an amazing homemaker, a great cook, and loved to host family picnics and holidays. She could often be found sewing and knitting, and enjoyed mushroom hunting and worked in her yard. Besides taking care of her home and her children, Shirley also retired as Office Manager from Purity Baking in 1994.

   Shirley leaves behind her two sons: Bryan (Jama) Cox and Brad (Kathy) Cox; daughter-in-law Brenda (Greg) Adolph; seven grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. Her two sisters Jean Gorham and Harriet Adams also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilbur, a son Jeff, and a sister Tina Yoho.
